Wacky rig

Hook a Senko-style worm through the egg sack or the exact centre, either straight through the plastic or through a small o-ring, and let it fall on slack line. Both ends flex and shudder the whole way down. There is no retrieve, no cadence, and nothing to learn.

It gets bitten when nothing else does, which makes it the bait to reach for on pressured water, bright days and heavily fished ponds. The downside is that it is fully exposed, so it snags in cover and fish tear the worm off the hook regularly.

An o-ring or a piece of surgical tubing around the worm doubles or triples how many fish you get per bait, and a weedless wacky hook with a wire guard lets you fish it near cover.
