What is a fishing sling bag?
A single-strap pack that rides on one shoulder and rotates around to your chest for access without taking it off.
The whole design is about speed. One strap, one motion: swing it forward, open it, take what you need, swing it back. For someone walking a bank and covering water, that is meaningfully faster than shrugging out of a backpack every time you want to change a lure.
The tradeoff is capacity and comfort. A sling carries one or two trays and a few small items, and all that weight sits on one shoulder, which starts to tell after a few hours or on a long hike.
It suits short sessions, kayaks and anyone who fishes a small number of techniques. A full day with rain gear and lunch wants a backpack.
Which shoulder the strap sits on matters more than it sounds. A sling designed for right-handed use rotates the wrong way for a left-handed angler, and some models are handed while others use a reversible strap.
Try it on loaded. An empty sling feels great in a shop and quite different with two trays and a water bottle in it.
