Buzzbait

It looks like a spinnerbait with a delta-shaped prop instead of blades. Cast it and start reeling before it lands, and the prop lifts the bait onto the surface where it clatters along leaving a bubble trail. There is no subtlety anywhere in it.

That noise is the appeal in low light, chop and dirty water. It covers water quickly and it draws violent strikes, which makes it a favourite for early mornings on shallow flats and around grass.

It also gets a lot of swipes and misses, since fish track the noise and can hit behind it. Many anglers add a trailer hook to convert those.

Bending the wire arm slightly so the blade just clips the shaft on each rotation adds a metallic squeak that some anglers swear is worth more than the prop noise itself. It is easy to try and easy to undo.
